NEW WICHITA WING READY TO SUIT UP AND ENJOY THE EXCITEMENT OF HARTMAN ARENA

Park City, KS (November 12, 2019) - Brent Hobson is counting down the time until he can suit up in orange and hit the pitch. The brand-new Wichita Wing is ready to go.

“I’m looking forward to game days, just having that buzz around the arena when you walk in the door.  And I think Hartman Arena is a perfect set-up for indoor soccer,” he said.

He should know. Hobson has played professional indoor soccer at Hartman with some pretty impressive stats. A player for the Wichita B-52’s back in 2013 to 2015, he played 27 games and had 16 goals with 14 assists.  (No slouch before going pro, during his college career he tallied a total of 33 goals and 21 assists. Hobson also earned all-conference honors his junior and senior season.)

Hobson said his side hustle as a college coach only helps him on the field.

“Being a college coach I would say lead by example for some of the younger players,” he said. “We have a ton of talent here in Wichita, so hopefully I can help a few transition into the indoor game.”

The Wings should definitely live up to the hype and excitement surrounding their 40th anniversary comeback season - with a competitive team.

“You’ll see some fast competitive soccer that is great entertainment,” said Hobson.” I know a lot of fans are looking forward to opening night at Hartman.”

Hobson is currently in his sixth year as the Head Coach for the Women’s Soccer team at Friends University and is grateful for a Wichita Wings schedule that allows him to continue to work with young athletes at his alma mater. Like several of his teammates, Hobson played all four years at Friends University before being tapped to be an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

As a matter of fact, the Friends University Lady Falcon team he coaches is competing in the KCAC playoffs, as of this writing. Coaching, playing, leading and winning - Hobson brings it all to the Wichita Wings.

See Hobson and his new indoor team on the field as the Wichita Wings open their season at home on Dec. 28. Season tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster and at the Hartman Arena box office.
